Applicants Age 14 - 79 Must Obtain Information and Schedule an Appointment through This Service
This service provides detailed information regarding nonimmigrant visas and the documents you will be required to present at your interview. In addition, all applicants age 14 – 79 must schedule an interview through this service to apply for a nonimmigrant visa.
There is an exception for children that are under 14 years of age and adults that are over 80 years of age. These individuals may not need to appear in person. They should file their applications via mail to the appropriate consulate and a determination will be made as to whether or not an interview will be required. The U.S. Consulate General accepts no liability for any documents lodged as part of a visa application. It is the applicant’s responsibility to use a secure means of sending the application and ensuring its safe return.
Children under 14 and adults over 80 who are not citizens or permanent residents of Australia must appear in person. The consular officer reserves the right to ask any applicant to appear for a personal interview.
Have you had a previous U.S. visa? Certain applicants may now be eligible for a waiver of interview when applying for their next visa at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate.
